Scholar of American holiday culture and the history of American holidays

In 2018, Daniel Gifford was invited by the Oxford University Press to join a select group of scholars in the creation of The Oxford Handbook of Christmas (2020). His contributing chapter is titled “The Winter Solstice and other Celebrations of the Season.”
